- Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is located on the California-Nevada border, in the very south of the Sierra Nevada. This reservoir is a real natural treasure 35 km long and 19 km wide. In summer they come here to swim in clear, slightly bluish water, sunbathe on numerous beaches, and walk along shady trails. In winter, the Tahoe area becomes one of America’s most important ski resorts. The lake is the second deepest in the United States and 11th in the world.
The weather in Tahoe is rarely cloudy at any time of the year.
What to watch
In the States, everything is designed for motorists; therefore, a 100-kilometer road has been laid around the lake. Parking lots and viewing platforms are often found. Part of the coastline is occupied by beaches that are very different from each other in coverage (pebbles, sand, stones) and belonging to individuals or the state (the first are paid and the second are not).
Tahoe is a favorite weekend getaway and vacation spot for California and Nevada residents. Most people are here in July and August, as well as during the ski season. On the lake you can meet fans of lazy beach rest, fishermen, rowers, divers and hikers.
The main infrastructure is in Tahoe City on the northwest coast and South Lake Tahoe in the south. But the accommodation options are evenly distributed throughout the coast. There are also large chain hotels and cottages, motels, campings.
Location: Tahoe is located 250 km northeast of San Francisco and 600 km from Las Vegas. Website (in English).
