Natural History Museum in Los Angeles (Los Angeles, USA) – expositions, opening hours, address, phone numbers, official website.
Los Angeles Museum of Natural History (The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles) – one of the best museums in the United States and, without exaggeration, the whole world. Four and a half billion years of the studied history of the planet are presented here visually, fascinating and interesting, so that both adults and children spend hours at the museum. A gigantic collection of more than 35 million exhibits and two sister museums to boot make the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History a treasure trove of knowledge about our Earth.
A bit of history
The history of the museum began in 1913 with the formation of the general Museum of History, Science and Art. The collection is housed in a magnificent building in the Los Angeles Exhibition Park. Over time, the collection grew to an impressive size, and it was divided into two parts – accordingly, the museums were also divided: this is how the current organization arose in 1961. In 2011, a remarkable beauty of the Dinosaur Hall was opened, and in 2013, the territory in front of the museum with an area of 14 hectares was turned into educational and cultural gardens. Today, the daughter museums are the Page Museum in La Brea, on the territory of which ice age strata are being excavated, and the William Hart Ranch Museum.

What to see
The exposition of the Natural History Museum is located on three floors. The most visited and loved by the public, the halls present artifacts on the history of the animal world in general and dinosaurs in particular, the art of pre-Columbian America, the history of California and Los Angeles, a collection of minerals, as well as an extremely interesting collection of magical objects from around the world. Pay special attention to the recreated mannequins of extinct animal species. You can also visit seasonal expositions: the Butterfly Pavilion is open from April to September, the Spider Pavilion – from September to November, and take a walk in the vast garden. The museum also regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, for example, “Traveling along the Great Silk Road” or “Add Water”.
