Palm Springs hotels – where to stay, our tips and advice

Palm Springs hotels – where to stay, our tips and advice

Palm Springs is a tourist conglomeration of 9 cities in the state of California USA, which is located 180 km east of Los Angeles in the Colorado Desert, next to Joshua Tree National Park. The Coachella Valley, where the town of Palm Springs is located, is surrounded on all sides by mountains.

Because of these geographic features, Palm Springs has year-round sunshine (354 days a year). The air heats up a lot, the wind blows often, and it’s especially hot in the summer. So we advise you not to go to Palm Springs in the summer, but if your vacation is during the summer months, I’ll make you happy with the fact that all the hotels in town have a pool!

Our favorite hotel in Palm Springs, California, USA

The Red Lion is our favorite hotel in Palm Springs, where we stay every time we are in town. It has a nice pool and jacuzzi, a very tasty breakfast, and spacious rooms. And the hotel walls tell stories of the past: how Hollywood stars hid here from their fame.

Important to know:

  • If you’ll be traveling with children, when choosing a hotel in or near Palm Springs, you should check if it’s allowed to check in with a child and if there are family rooms (Hampton Inn & Suites is recommended).
  • Some hotels with a bar and alcohol only work for adults – Little Paradise, and some even allow nudism.
  • We also advise you to pay attention to the freshness of the hotel, as many have been hosting guests for a long time and are in need of renovation. Usually write about it in the reviews of guests.

However, you should keep in mind that during Coachella Festival, which is held in the middle of April in Indio, prices for hotels in Palm Springs are simply exorbitant, so we recommend booking in advance at, which guarantees the best prices and no additional commissions.

For example, you can book the clean, inexpensive 3-star Quality Inn with breakfast for $70-100, make a smart choice for the new 4-star Kimpton Rowan for $170-200, or go for the 5-star L’Horizon Resort & Spa (room rates starting at $250). Do not forget about taxes and various fees, sometimes they are a very significant addition to the final cost of housing in Palm Springs.
